This data set reports information on benthic macroinfaunal assemblages produced as part of ongoing monitoring within and near the Jacksonville Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site. Sampling was conducted in June, 1998 on the EPA Ocean Survey Vessel (OSV) Peter W. Anderson. Twelve sample stations were sampled utilizing 15 replicate hand-held cylindrical cores (area=0.0079m2).
</abstract>
<purpose>Monitor the status and trends of the benthic macroinfaunal (>0.5 mm) communities exposed to dredged material disposal.
</purpose>
<supplinf>Grain size data and concentrations of chemical contaminants in sediments was also collected at each station.

<taxongen>All benthic macroinfauna (>0.5mm) were identified to the lowest practical taxonomic level, usually species. The taxonomic classification system described in this metadata covers the major taxonomic categories of the database from Kingom down to the level of Order only for the dominant Orders (>0.5%). This does not represent the more detailed taxonomic information that is available in the database (usually species).
